2020 – Looking back and to the future

2020 – well what a year!

In our 6 years as a Yorkshire based plant hire company, we’ve never experienced the level of uncertainty and demand as we have this year.

When we were thinking of three words to sum it up, for us it would be Challenging, Worrying and Proud.
Looking back to the beginning of 2020, before we really knew what lie ahead, the year started off well. We welcomed a number of new vehicles to the fleet, started new contracts with Ready Mix and MCS Contracting Ltd and we celebrated our 6th birthday.

As we went into lockdown, like everybody else across the country we were worried about what was to come. We continued operating throughout the lockdown as an essential service, providing road sweeping services to local authorities, including Leeds City Council and Robinson Contract Services.

With the increase in popularity for home and garden improvements as people stayed at home, demand for our grab hire and aggregate services grew, increasing our business in towns and cities across Yorkshire including Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, York, Selby and Harrogate.

One of our proudest moments was when the team took part in a drive through Cawood village for the NHS and the overwhelming response we received from local residents, which saw people lining the streets clapping in solidarity.

How our team has come together throughout the pandemic with their proactive attitude and ability to positively respond to working within the COVID challenges has made us extremely proud. Everyone has played their part, whether it be working on grab hire, tipper hire, roadsweeping or in the back office. It’s been a huge team effort.

Other highlights this year include launching our new website, seeing our new branded merch hitting the homes and offices of our fantastic clients, taking part in Movember to raise funds for the Lighthouse Club Charity (£755!!) and expanding the team to welcome several new members – including our official mascot, Ted!

We’ve also had the pleasure of working with some brilliant businesses including Safeway Drives, Smith & Son Heavy Equipment Engineers, and Build a Driveway to name a few and we’re so happy to have received such lovely Google reviews from our amazing customers.

So, what will 2021 hold for RJC? Like many people, we’re is looking forward to getting back to normality. We have exciting plans to grow and develop the business further, building on the successes we have managed to achieve this year, despite all the challenges.

2021 we’re ready for you!
